Louisiana rapper SSGKobe blends trap and R&B, fusing gritty lyrics with melodic, Auto-Tuned hooks. He began gaining traction online at just 15 years old, and by the time his EP Ko. dropped in 2021, he had already worked with artists like Kaash Paige, BROCKHAMPTON, and Internet Money.
Born in 2003, SSGKobe was inspired to start rapping after discovering Chief Keef’s “Love Sosa” on YouTube. A lifelong basketball fan, he originally went by Lil Kobe as a tribute to Kobe Bryant, before rebranding as SSGKobe — with “SSG” referencing “Super Saiyan God,” a nod to his love of anime. He became affiliated with the Slayworld collective and featured on tracks by members Summrs and Autumn!, while simultaneously uploading his own music to SoundCloud starting in 2018.
After releasing multiple EPs, his 2019 single “Wyd?” marked an early breakout moment. He appeared on Kaash Paige’s 2020 album Teenage Fever and collaborated with Internet Money on the track “Feelings.” In 2021, he dropped the Night Before KO EP and teamed up with $NOT for the single “Calabasas,” which became his most streamed song to date and was later included as a bonus track on Ko. That same year, he was also featured on BROCKHAMPTON’s album ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE.
Note: This album is packed with heavy bass — a true treat for woofer lovers.
